A note from Kate Ferrell, an inspiring artist and former clinical intern at El Futuro:

"My connection to El Futuro began in 2006, when I chose the agency as the site for my social work field placement. As a first-year master’s student at the UNC School of Social Work, I was young and inexperienced, eager to learn. During that year at El Futuro, I not only gained valuable clinical skills but was also surrounded by a team of individuals deeply committed to their clients, their mission, and their work. Each staff member at El Futuro was—and continues to be—dedicated to excellence and to supporting the thriving of every client and family.

Although I was just a student, I was warmly welcomed into the team and remember fondly trying tamales and flan for the first time during one of the many staff gatherings. The joy and camaraderie shared among the staff fostered a healthy, supportive work environment that ultimately benefited clients as well.

Even though I have since moved out of state, I continue to support El Futuro because I know firsthand that their work and services are exceptional—and that they bring true hope and healing to the community they serve."
