CIAP (Central Interregional de Artesanos del Peru "Interregional Center of Craftsmen of Peru") is self-managed organization that brings together artisan associations from rural areas and marginalized neighborhoods in Lima and other regions of Peru. Defending and preserving our Andean culture and identity, and promoting and strengthening the organization of artisans, their families, and their communities are some of our objectives.
About tapestry: The work was made on a wooden pedal loom by a family workshop. The wool was dyed during a communal workshop held by the Association. The design represents an Andean landscape. The houses are built with adobe (mud blocks) mixed with stones, and the roofs are tiled (burnt clay). They are built according to the climatic challenges faced by the area. These communities practice solidarity, mutual aid, and sharing.
90% sheep, 10% cotton.
Handwash and dry recommended.
